As they talked business during their one-on-one meetings, delegates tried their hand at activities including kite making, Jianzi kicking (a traditional Chinese sport that involves keeping a heavily weighted shuttlecock in the air), chatting with a Chinese Myna Bird, and exhilarating rides in the passenger seat of a vintage sidecar. The group bonded over a steam dumpling and noodle making masterclass, and rickshaw rides through the frenetic streets of the capital, before continuing their meetings within the imperial walls of the breathtaking Forbidden City. The two-day event cumulated with a traditional tea ceremony at the tranquil Green T House. Connections Luxury Beijing’s experiences were sponsored by Mandarin Journeys. On top of their business meetings, digital entrepreneur Ewan MacLeod shook things up by sharing his video diary of his journey as he traveled to Connections Luxury Beijing – highlighting some firm areas for improvement – and Amadeus hosted and sponsored an enlightening industry debate.
